A new development board for our collection.
How could we reject this board? So, we purchased it!
Cypress PSoC4 is a new generation of programmable SystemOnChip device for embedded applications. It combines programmable analog, programmable digital logic, programmable I/O, and a high-performance ARM Cortex-M0 core.
Some technical datas about PSoC 4 Prototyping Kit:
- PSoC 4 device
- PSoC 4 header ports J1 and J2
- USB-Serial device
- USB-Serial header ports J5 and J6 (GPIO)
- UART connection J3 and J4 (SCB and GPIO)
- PCB USB connector
- One amber LED (Power)
- One blue LED (User)
- Push button
- External reference capacitor (ADC Bypass)
- CapSense and shield capacitors (CMOD and CTANK)
- Programming connector
- Perforated 'snappable' board design
This Prototyping Kit can be powered from USB or an external power supply and the input voltage is either 5 V from USB or a variable supply from an external source (1.8-5 V from a regulated supply connected to VDD).
For more informations about the headers, we recommend this pdf where you can find all in greater detail.
The package in which it's shipped it's a simple square cardboard with inside the board. When you pull out the device, the message "PSoC Rocks" coming up from this shell. Well played!
The back package shows all pinout of board both for programmer/debugger upside and for the SystemOnChip downside. Moreover, it was impressed some tip about first connection and the url reference on PSoc website.
Take a look to yellow sticker below the board and BE CAREFUL!, because the board doesn't have a ESD (electrostatic-discharge) protection circuitry, so the power source for the CY8CKIT-049-4xxx must be of a high quality. This to ensure that the board is protected from any over-current conditions and swapped-power connections.
It complete the unboxing with some other chip (CG8000AA, CG8001AA) that we purchased with 1$ promotion, even these PSoC4, that we hope to program with the same board.
But this is a different thinking!
We leave you to the video unboxing...
